As a supervisor at Autoneum’s Aiken manufacturing facility, Johnny Perry’s day usually starts at 5 a.m.
In his current job, Perry oversees a team of industrial workers and makes sure things run smoothly, but finding a job wasn’t always so easy.
“I kind of had trouble,” Perry said.
After receiving a recommendation from his mom’s friend, he called Aiken Personnel Services and was asked to come in for an interview.
“When I showed up for the interview, I dressed nice and looked real presentable,” he said.
A recruiter sat down with Perry and told him about positions that could be a match for his skills and experience.
“She told me where I could be a good fit,” he said. “I told her I liked the industrial field and had experience there because I had worked for another industrial contractor previously.”
APS offered Perry a job with an industrial manufacturer, where he worked as a contract employee until accepting his current position as supervisor for a global car parts manufacturer.
Perry said that while he is no longer with APS, he credits much of his current success to the start he received there.
“They took the time to look at my resume and see that I’m ready and willing to work,” he said.
When asked what advice he has for others looking for a job, he said never give up.
“Keep trying. Don’t ever let anything stop you from doing what you need to do to have a better life.”
